Original
A B. C. WEEKEND TELEVISION 1964
'BIG NIGHT OUT'
Studio Souvenir Brochure ~ Programme

+ Extras

Here, not only a scarce Television Souvenir Brochure for the
audience attending the recording of BIG NIGHT OUT, this
particular example is unique, as was the only one that
was to feature a whole front cover, albeit in caricature
form, of the main featured artistes.

And the bonus (if one was actually needed) is that
this example was owned by Bob Sharples, who
was the musical director, and band leader of
the ABC Television Show Band, for this show,
and throughout this television series'.

Recorded Feb 23rd (brochure dated this), a week
in advance of the actual television screening.

Collage within, consisting of:
ARMCHAIR THEATRE, THE AVENGERS,
THE BEATLES
('Thank Your Lucky Stars' pose)
THE SUNDAY BREAK, BING CROSBY, PEGGY LEE,
JULIETTE GRECO
(re ABC's 'Tempo'), MIKE And BERNIE

Page 4 (back cover) are the artistes for this specific show:
MIKE And BERNIE WINTERS, BILLY DAINTY,
JACKIE TRENT, LIONEL BLAIR + DANCERS,
THE BEATLES, plus PHILIP JONES
the show's producer.

This was the Beatles first appearance on a UK television
show on return from their big success visit in America,
and their first time on TV appearing in comedy sketches.

A B O U T   I have in my possession an interesting collection of ephemera that was one-time the original owner's personal amass from his professional career. Intimate artifacts are also included (ask). Robert Sharples, bandleader, musical director, composer, etc, was better known as Bob Sharples, and via Opportunity Knocks, as 'Uncle Bob'.

                                                                     1913-198

Being their Musical Consultant, he had a good relationship with ABC Television, and as well as his 'outside' work, was involved with many television productions. Hundreds in fact. After he died, his then wife Christina took up with their close friend, the controversial Hughie Green.  She passed away in 2013, and it is then that these artifacts became available.

The collection includes Theatre Programmes,
ABC TELEVISION Recording programmes
(BIG NIGHT OUT, etc) of whom he was their principal Musical Director, personal items,
(some of a sensitive  nature so not going to list these on ebay). his recoding ledger, hand written music scores for TV productions, his own
Chappel 10" recordings, and other artifacts.

His archive scrapbooks,  photographs,  unpublished autobiography (unfinished), etc,
would be ideal for someone who was interested
to dedicate a website on and about him
