Description

Savoy Brown   "Boogie Brothers"

This is a US vinyl pressing on London 638  from 1974.     This is a test pressing.    This was their first album on London Records.    It comes in a plain white cover with an 8 X 11 info sheet glued to the front.    On the info sheet five songs have stars for suggested cuts.    It says 'release date in about 2 weeks ( week of March 22 ).     The date : 3-21-74 is written in red ink at the top right.     On the info sheet after the song titles are two paragraphs of info : "Boogie Brothers", Savoy Brown's new hot LP on the London label is a super album by the hottest new supergroup to come out of England.  Kim Simmons is joined by Stan Webb ( of Chicken Shack fame ) and Miller Anderson ( whose phenomenal reputation with Keef Hartley was followed by even greater sucess as a featured performer/writer).   The three lead vocals and lead guitars trade off to make this the most rockin' jamboree you've ever heard.  THIS IS THE BIG ONE..."     The labels are white and say 'BESTWAY Products, Inc, Test Pressing'.   The record number is stamped on side one : '638' and the side numbers are written in by hand.

The matrix numbers are hand etched : Side one : SAHS 1650 Best  and Side two : SAHS  1651  Best .

The songs are :  Highway Blues, Me And The Preacher, My Love's Lying Down, You Don't Love Me, Always The Same, Everybody Loves A Drinking Man, Rock 'N' Roll Star, Boogie Brothers, and Threegy Blues.

Why are test pressing so rare ??      A test pressing is the very first pressing of a record.    It's made so that the artist, producer, engineer, and record company executives can approve the record.    They are pressed in extremely limited numbers ( like 50 to 100 ) and are never repressed.    They are sent out to selected people before the cover and labels have been printed.

Overall Condition :  Cover : VG / Record : M-

The cover is VG.   There are no seam splits and there is no ring wear.    There is a date written on the cover.     The info sheet is in a little wrinkled.     The bottom left corner has wear and light staining.     The vinyl looks near mint and it plays near mint.     The labels have no spindle marks.

I will package this record between two pieces of 1/2 inch thick cardboard.    ( It's so thick that you will save it and use again. )    It will weigh 21 ounces ( 1 pound, 5 ounces ) when ready to ship.    You can figure out your own postage costs for US Priority or Media Mail.    It will be sent by First Class Mail International to overseas buyers.   ( Buyers from Italy will assume all risks for shipping to their country)   I will send it as soon as you pay ( same day of before 2 PM and next day if after 2 PM )      I will combine postage if you win more than one record.     This record is from a no smoking and no pets home.
