Description

The Beatles - Beatles VI

I am pleased to offer for sale this superb 1966 UK export 1st pressing of the Beatles seventh Capitol records recorded studio album, Beatles VI.

Beatles VI is unique in that it features versions of "Bad Boy" and "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" that were recorded specifically for the US market; the only time that the Beatles ever recorded tracks for a specific market. The remaining tracks on the album, 6 from Beatles for Sale, 2 from Help!, and the B-side single, "Yes it is", are all the American, "Dave Dexter Jr." mixes that differ from those for the same tracks released in the UK market.

This particular copy is an extremely rare UK export pressing on the sought after yellow and black Parlophone label. EMI produced 'export' versions of Capitol records that were intended for US personnel (usually in the military) that were based overseas. Not many were produced or sold. Consequently, finding clean copies today is extremely difficult - especially those with the first run 1G/1G stampers!!

Album Details:

Serial number: CPCS 104

Matrix number: YEEX 112 - A15 / YEEX 113 A-15

(The original US matrix number, ST 2451, is scratched out on the side 2 run out).

Stamper codes: 1 G / 1 G

Tax Codes: N/A

Vinyl Weight: 141g

The matrix numbers confirm that the record is a true UK first pressing. The mother & stamper codes communicate that the record was produced by the first mother and stamper plates, communicating that the record was one of the first ~300 produced. Consequently, the audio reproduction is fantastic. Take a listen yourself below!

The labels are the first variant as is evident from the absence of "Sold in U.K.." text and the presence of "The Gramophone Co. ..." perimeter text to both labels.

This copy comes with the first variant front-side laminated, tri-flipback Garrod and Lofthouse sleeve with mid-sized 'stereo' aural indicator present to the front side.

The album is complete with the original EMItex 'protect your records' polythene lined, die-cut inner sleeve.

Condition Report:

The condition report provided below is given as a guide only. I include high-quality, comprehensive photographs as well as a complete audio recording in my listings to enable you to make an informed decision on the condition of this record yourself.

Disc: VERY GOOD +

Labels: VERY GOOD +

The labels are clean and retain rich, vibrant colours. Initials are written in black marker on the side 1 label. A noticeable collection of dull spindle trails can be seen around each centre hole.

Visual: VERY GOOD +

Both vinyl playing surfaces retain a superb deep gloss shine. In bright daylight a small fingernail scuff can be seen to side 2 in addition to a number of light surface marks which are present to both sides. Underneath the glare of a halogen desk lamp a handful of insignificant wispy paper hairlines can be seen alongside an iridescent rainbow shine.

Sound Quality: VERY GOOD +

Please note: the eBay app does not facilitate playback. Please use the internet site to enjoy the audio clips.

Side 1:

Side 2:

As can be heard in the recordings, the record sounds great. A number of clicks can be heard during the introduction to track 2 side 2 - a consequence of the fingernail scuff mention above. There is light static during the lead-ins and in between tracks. Otherwise playback is warm and clear without any evidence of groove wear distortion. A very pleasant listen.

Sleeve: EXCELLENT +

The original sleeve is in fantastic condition. Both the front and rear are clean and bright. The cover art maintains vibrant colouration. The rear is remarkably white. The corners are crisp without any softening. Several laminate creases are visible to the front of the sleeve - usually present from the factory - which keep the sleeve from grading mint. The spine and all edges are without wear. It would be very difficult to find a better example.

Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT

The original inner sleeve is in great condition. It is very clean and displays only mild creasing.

Additional Details:

Before the audio test, the vinyl was cleaned first by an Okki Nokki vacuum cleaner and then an Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.

After cleaning, the vinyl was placed inside a brand new mobile fidelity anti-static inner sleeve.

The vinyl will be packaged outside of the sleeve, both of which are stored inside an archival quality polypropylene outer sleeve.

The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
