Description
THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
Here is a rare opportunity to complete your collection with perhaps an affordable example of the most desirable of all Beatles LPs.
This genuine 1st STEREO pressing dates from initial April 1963 release on the gold & black Parlophone stereo label: PCS 3042
Both labels are 1st variant-types with 'Dick James Mus. Co.' publishing credits for tracks 1, 2, 6 & 7 on side 1, and 4 & 6 on side 2.
A 'ZT' purchase tax code is visible in the centre of the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1
Rarest stamper code combination: 1/A & 1/R
Vinyl weight: 161g
Housed in a correct front laminated, tri-flipback 'Ernest J. Day' printed cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right corner.
Compete with original poly-lined inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: VERY GOOD -
As you can see, both labels show some moderate wear, but all of the delicate gold print is intact and there is no writing or missing paper on either label.
Visual: VERY GOOD -
Both sides of this disc are clean and retain a good deal of their original deep-gloss shine. However, there are several noticable surface marks and light scratches consistent with frequent use and some visible whitening to the grooves. Both sides are 100% flat on the turntable when playing.
Sound Quality: VERY GOOD
Despite having been played many times, the high quality of the recording and pressing shine through and both sides play without any major audible faults. My play-check detected some light background on 'Misery' & 'Anna' & a few soft clicks at the end of 'Boys' and into 'Ask Me Why'. There is some light surface noise between tracks on side 2, but no jumps, repeats, heavy clicks or any further significant audible distractions anywhere.
Cover: VERY GOOD -
A respectable example of this early and correct cover for this issue.
The front panel is clean & glossy with minor rubbing & a few small indentation marks from storage, but no heavy creases.
There is general shelfwear to the left corners, to the left two mostly, but none are split.
The front opening edge is unworn but there is a small tear to the rear one, just to the left of 'There's A Place' on the track-listing.
The exposed rear panel has general age/handling wear but is free from any writing or major blemishes.
There is a small section of missing paper to the lower right corner flipback.
Both seams are unstressed & unsplit and the spine is clean & readable.
Inner-sleeve: VERY GOOD
General handling wear with small blemishes, but no writing, tears or seam splits.
